Let The Sunshine In

Directed by Claire Denis

Adapted from Roland Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse, the latest film from Claire Denis (Beau Travail, 35 Shots of Rum) is a characteristically intelligent and sensuous affair. Juliette Binoche gives her best performance for some time, playing a divorced single parent artist looking for true love in contemporary Paris. A film that captures the complex nature of desire and what it is exactly that we seek when looking for a companion, the film continues the director’s working relationship with cinematographer Agnès Godard and composer Stuart A. Staples (Tindersticks).
