Le Mepris

Directed by Jean-Luc Godard

Directed by Jean-Luc Godard

Centred on the growing tensions between a screenwriter and his wife, as he labours on a film of Homer’s Odyssey directed by Fritz Lang but produced by a crass American, Godard’s film is both a study of marital breakdown and a critique of contemporary filmmaking practices.

Beautifully performed, ravishingly shot by Raoul Coutard, and superbly scored by Georges Delerue.

"..arguably the director’s only film that could bring tears to your eyes"
