Reminiscent of the films of Eric Rohmer, twentysomething director Bonnell’s directorial feature début is a tender, restrained story of love and mild obsession. Julien and his sister live with their dad in Beauce. The only person missing is their mother who died a year earlier. Her absence weighs heavy on the house; it isn’t discussed. Desperate for love, Julien spots his heart’s desire in the form of older shop assistant Olga. Secretly, he tries everything to get to know her.
