La Voz dormida

Directed by Benito Zambrano

Following the fate of two sisters in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, Benito Zambrano’s (Habana Blues) latest film is based on the novel by the late author Dulce Chacón, which won the 2003 Spanish Book of the Year. As a politically active Republican, pregnant Hortensia has been imprisoned in the brutal Ventas jail near Madrid. Her naïve younger sister Pepita is slowly drawn into ever-greater danger as she does her best to save her from the firing squad.
