La Flor is a captivating and witty narrative made up of six independent, successive episodes. A long-nourished project by Argentinian filmmaker Mariano Llinás, produced over 10 years, it weaves a multiplicity of stories and defies any strict convention regarding genre and style. Connected by the same four actresses, who play radically different roles in each part, La Flor is also a tribute to the history of film.
Part 2 features the third and fourth episodes of six. In episode 3, a group of female spies transport their hostage towards a final showdown, while episode 4 features a metanarrative worthy of Hamlet’s play-within-a-play, as four actresses turn on their director and his exceptionally complex narrative structure. As with the first two episodes, none of these stories are straightforward, and each challenges the conventions of what can be expected of film and filmmakers.
