Kiss Me Deadly

Directed by Robert Aldrich

Private detective Mike Hammer picks up a hitchhiker who’s standing on the highway wearing only a trench coat, but the pair are soon chased down and run off the road by a violent gang. When Hammer regains consciousness, the girl is dead.

Although warned not to investigate, Hammer picks up the threads of the mystery and becomes ensnared in a dark plot involving a scientist and the hitchhiker’s terrified roommate.

Kiss Me Deadly is a classic pulp noir of the 1950s and a savage critique of Cold War paranoia.
