Khakee

Directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi

A quality police thriller by acclaimed director and genre master Raj Kumar Santoshi. Amitabh plays an underperforming ageing police officer leading his motley crew team to escort a dangerous terrorist to Mumbai. The assignment, of course, isn’t straightforward as it’s clear someone is intent on thwarting their progress. Aishwarya Rai yet again proves she can more than hold her own in a male dominated genre film.

Reviews

“Arguably the edgiest release to come out of Bollywood since Baghban, Khakee is a powerfully intense movie set on the mean streets of Mumbai. […] Impeccably cast, this illustrates how intelligent dialogue and direction can take the viewer beyond genre limitations. A genuinely suspenseful cop thriller from the subcontinent. ****” Omar Ahmed, Empire

“a twist-filled, often very violent drama centered on some cops escorting a terrorist cross-country to Mumbai. Powerhouse casting, and equally powerhouse direction by Rajkumar Santoshi (The Legend of Bhagat Singh), makes this an above-average example of mainstream Bollywood thrillers, sans any stylistic flourishes.” Derek Elley, Variety
