Irreversible

Directed by Gaspar Noé

Noé is a provocative filmmaker and Irreversible follows in this mode, both in terms of its narrative structure and its graphic exploration of male violence in contemporary society. The film tracks in reverse order a violent act of revenge by Marcus for the brutal attack upon his girlfriend. The contrast between the violence of the beginning (and the infamous rape scene) and the intimacy of the ending is just one of many ‘shocks’ within this disturbing film.

Please note: Irreversible contains extremely graphic scenes of violence and strong language. The film also contains strobe effects.
