In Casablanca Angels Don’t Fly

Directed by Mohamad Asli

Three Berber villagers work in a café in Casablanca. Saïd supports a pregnant wife and child back home. Ottman’s left behind his cherished horse which his mum is threatening to sell. Meanwhile Ismail eyes a pair of pricey boots. Working for a disdainful boss and sharing living quarters, each dreams of escape and fulfillment. Set mainly around Casablanca, the film mixes humour with dark, poetic realism, set to a local soundtrack.
