I Wish

A welcome release for this 2011 film from the director of After Life and Nobody Knows, I Wish once again finds Hirokazu Koreeda exploring the bonds between parents and children. Koki Maeda plays Koichi, a young boy living with his mother and missing his sibling (Ohshirô Maeda, Koki’s real-life brother), who lives with his father. The boys, with help from their grandfather, decide to skip school and meet up, resulting in an exciting adventure.
