This fascinating feature sees Carax’s long-time collaborator Denis Lavant as a shadowy character who segues between different parallel lives: at one point he’s an assassin, then a beggar, a businessman and a family man. Carax creates a bizarre cinematic world that bewitches and enthrals the viewer.
