A musical remake of the classic 1940 comedy THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, HIGH SOCIETY features a high-wattage cast and a fabulous score by Cole Porter. Although some of the casting is a bit suspect (Crosby could never be as suave as Grant), the film is a hugely enjoyable romantic confection that softens the original’s sharp portrayal of the nuptials-inspired encounter between a couple of scandal rag reporters and the scions of a society family. Simply scrumptious in a brand new 35mm print.
