Grizzly Man

Directed by Werner Herzog

Director Werner Herzog continues his fascination with men who battle against nature (external and internal) in this multi-faceted documentary about an amateur naturalist who was killed and eaten by Alaskan Grizzlies.

‘Kind warrior’ Timothy Treadwell fashioned a new life for himself, ‘protecting’ the bears he adored, recording hours of beautifully shot and bizarrely narrated video footage. The director mixes this with his own commentary plus contributions from Friends, colleagues and witnesses to form an utterly compelling portrait. “It’s not a film about wild nature. It is a film about the deepest human condition.” – Werner Herzog.
