Glorious Phantoms

Two new short films by artist family Grace, Gary, Hope and Merrick, marking 200 years since the Peterloo Massacre, are screening at HOME whilst also  being shown simultaneously at Dunham Massey and Quarry Bank. The films are inspired by questions about protest, rights and responsibilities, freedoms and the power to create change.

The have been commissioned as part of the National Trust’s People’s Landscapes programme (#PeoplesLandscapes) which explores sites where people came together to have their voices heard. Other sites include Kinder Scout, Tolpuddle and the Durham Coast.

An exhibition of the artistic process plus Dunham Massey and Quarry Bank’s stories, research and links to Peterloo will be shown in cabinets at Manchester Central Library as part of the Peterloo 2019 commemoration project.

This commission is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England with additional support from Art Fund.
