Gholam (Shahab Hosseini, The Salesman) is an Iranian immigrant living in London, where he drives a cab and moonlights as a mechanic. An enigmatic figure who has a past, Gholam begins a tentative relationship with an elderly woman in the neighbourhood but also finds himself slowly being pulled back into his former life as a heroic soldier in the Iran-Iraq War. A pulsating thriller from director Mitra Trabizian, the film has echoes of Rafi Pitts’s The Hunter.
