Emak Bakia!

Directed by Oskar Alegría

In 1962, Man Ray shot an avant-garde cinepoem called Emak Bakia, a title which in Basque means ‘Leave me alone’. Here, documentary filmmaker and photographer Oskar Alegría explores the meaning of the film and its enigmatic title, resulting in a delightful road movie that celebrates the joys and discoveries of chance.

This screening is presented in partnership with the Instituto Cervantes, Instituto Vasco Etxepare Euskal Institutua / Basque Institute and the University of Liverpool.
