The daughter of Chilean director Patricio Guzmán, Camila was born in Chile and moved to Cuba aged two when her family fled the fall of Allende. Having left as a young adult in 1990, and now a resident of France, she later decided to return to the island to discover how her rosy memories compare with the reality of contemporary Cuban existence. Old friends contrast the possibility and hopefulness of earlier times with the ‘skeleton of a dream’ that is modern Cuban life.
