Death in Venice

Directed by Luchino Visconti

Bogarde plays a man on holiday who becomes obsessed with a blond youth, leading him to outstay his welcome in the plague-ridden city of Venice. Beautifully shot, with a Mahler soundtrack, Death in Venice enjoyed huge success upon its original release and remains one of Bogarde’s most memorable roles.
