Coming Home

Directed by Hal Ashby

Coming Home originated from a possibly unlikely source: star Jane Fonda, then a controversial figure in the U.S. for her outspoken anti-war beliefs, commissioned the project as a vehicle for exploring the difficulties faced by both returning vets, and the loved ones who remained at home. The result would be one of the most acclaimed movies of the 1970s, and an immensely moving portrait of American life during one of the country’s most turbulent eras. Both Fonda and Voight won Academy Awards.
