There is darkness inside all of us. How it emerges is the central theme explored in this riveting and exceptionally realised first feature from Michael Pearce set on the supposedly tranquil isle of Jersey. Anchored by a fierce performance by Jessie Buckley as the troubled Moll, this is a brooding thriller that asks what it means to love someone not in spite of, but because of, their imperfections. Pearce is most certainly a talent to watch.
