A Town Called Panic

Directed by Stéphane Aubier & Vincent Partar

A fun, frenetic film from Belgian animation team Stéphane Aubier and Vincent Patar, whose quirky animation style brings to life three plastic toys: Cowboy, Indian and Horse and their gang of friends and foes. Cowboy and Indian’s surprise birthday plans for Horse backfire as they attempt to make a homemade gift, destroying their house in the process.

Selected for That’s a Wrap by Catherine West:

At the time I was feeling quite down and a bit reclusive but had dragged myself out of the house, hoping to see this quirky film.  However, on nearing the box office I saw a few people being turned away and thought “Oh no, it’s sold out”.  Luckily for me though it was because there was only one ticket left and so I got the last seat in Cinema 3.
It turned out to be a really joyous and fun experience to watch this childlike but clever film in such an intimate setting with people I’d never met before.  Although most of us were strangers to each other, we ended up laughing loudly together and looking at each other sometimes with sparkling, happy eyes.  I think I had tears in my eyes at one point because I was laughing so much.
I went home on a bit of high afterwards and it helped me to get myself back on track again.
I hope you will be able to show this film once more so another audience can share the joy and magic.  :-)
