A City Seen with The Men’s Room: What Stops Us

Directed by Various

The Men’s Room participants, staff and volunteers proudly present an interactive evening of film, reflection, spoken word, a game show, fun, art and absurdity.

Sit back or get involved – wear leisure wear or dress glam – your choice. What’s not to like? Come and join us. You may not know what to expect, but it will be fabulous.

This event is to make joy out of the darkness. Life is absurd let’s lean into it!

What Stops Us From Being Well? was a pre-pandemic artistic exploration of the multitude of things and circumstances that get in our way and that stop us from enjoying life to the full. Ironically, the last part of our project was interrupted by Covid,  exacerbating many of the issues already highlighted by our group. The journey of this project, the pandemic, the resilience of our participants and our hopes for the future are captured in this beautiful film short made by Benji Mitchell and Jose Sherwood.

The Men’s Room is an arts and social care charity working with people with multiple and complex needs, specifically supporting male and trans sex workers. We provide arts and creative practice with practical help and one-to-one support.
