12 August 1945. The inhabitants of a village in rural Soviet-occupied Hungary are preparing for the wedding of the town clerk’s son when two Orthodox Jewish men arrive at the railway station with two large trunks. As they silently make their way to town, a growing panic spreads amongst some of the more prominent townsfolk. Török’s striking monochrome ‘Western’ is a tense and chilling drama set in a transitional period in Hungarian history.
