Marco Ambrosio: Everyday Beijing

Marco Ambrosio’s ongoing photographic project seeks to document the changes that are transforming Beijing’s public and private realms. This process is not driven solely by China’s capital-led political and economic development. The customary use of places for impromptu social activity and the spontaneous appropriation of both private and public settings for leisure or business activities shapes these spaces and the experiences of those who use them. The ways the city is used is increasingly determined by the actions of, among others, an emerging youth culture who’s new applications mix with the everyday activity of previous generations.
