Eva Rothschild: Peacegarden

Cornerhouse is pleased to host this major exhibition of new work by Eva Rothschild in collaboration with The Showroom gallery, London. Eva Rothschild has been included in several major group shows both nationally and internationally over the last few years, however this is her first major solo, touring exhibition. With this new body of work the artist expands her interest in current pantheistic beliefs and aims to re-invest images associated with new age spirituality with some of their original psychic power. For her exhibition at Cornerhouse Rothschild has created new work in response to the spaces, with visitors experiencing different sensory environments in the two galleries. This diversity mirrors the artist’s work which develops sculptural, wall-based and film works that combine the hardness of minimalism with imagery and references from fantasy art. Eva Rothschild creates her own ‘magic minimalism’ to try and find a middle ground between 60’s idealism and contemporary cynicism. Supported by the Arts Council of England with National Lottery Funds through the National Touring programme and The Henry Moore Foundation. ALSO SHOWING EXPERIENCE THE SCENE To complement Eva Rothschild’s exhibition, Cornerhouse has gone to the source material for many of the artist’s concerns and inspirations. A one gallery show of rare originals and reprints of psychedelic posters from the 1960’s.
