Diary

From the padlocked, five-year variety which teenagers fill with their innermost secrets, to the school journal, college timetable and business agenda, through to ‘kiss and tell’ celebrity confessions in published autobiographies, the notion of the diary touches on all of our lives. At a time when there is a seemingly insatiable appetite for video diaries and fly-on-the-wall documentaries, Cornerhouse presents an exhibition curated by Margot Heller which looks at some very different approaches to the recording of personal and everyday experiences. DIARY is accompanied by a hard-backed catalogue which doubles up as a week-to-a-page desk diary. The 144 page publication includes 52 colour reproductions, 25 artist’s pages and essays by Margot Heller and Tony Godfrey, author of ‘Conceptual Art’, recently published by Phaidon.
