Yuliya Sorokina talks about what inspires and influences her practice.
Yuliya Sorokina is an artist, curator, lecturer and writer based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. As co-curator of Central Asian Project and curator of the Central Asian Pavilion at the 52nd Venice Bienniale, Sorokina has brought the work of artists from the relatively new countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to wider attention. Sorokina has also worked as a free-lance curator and chair-person of the Board of “Asia Art+” Public Foundation since 1999.
