The Lab3D exhibition is the starting point for a unique series of dynamic, hands-on workshops. Leading artists and game industry professionals provide an in-depth look at how digital games and virtual worlds come to life. Gallery 1 becomes a playground for exploring 3D graphics and modelling, virtual world building, sound design and an overview of the latest news in digital game culture. Led by Maria Stukoff, The Game Plan 2 Jun, 12.00 – 4.00pmSound Bytes: Want to know about sound design for virtual worldsLeading sound software for games will be introduced by Andrew Diey, Alchemy Audio Lab, Manchester. His works have been performed on many mediums from BBC Radio, on television, in films, as computer game sound effects, and performances for theatre. Mon 9 Jun, 12.00 – 4.00pmDeveloping GamesAn induction to 3D software and character modelling by Salford artist Beth Senior, MANCAT, Manchester College of Art and Creative Technology. 16 Jun, 12.00 – 4.00pmUnreal Codes: Game-engine Software A creative exploration of game-engine software and programming by artist and programmer Tom Betts. Betts created “FSKN”, a game Mod shown at the opening of FACT, Liverpool. are FREE events but tickets must be booked in advance as places are extremely limited. A £5 deposit maybe required to secure your place on the workshop. This will be refunded when you attend the workshop that you have booked onto.
