Workshop/ Killing Me Softly

Looking at the symbiotic dialogue between fashion model and photographer, this session will offer an analysis of Black Duck Feathers, a dress created by fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen that emblematically served to turn an indistinct female body into a romantic, melancholic bird of prey. The workshop will also include a reading of Helmut Newton’s photography that playfully questions sexual differences. Throughout the discussion, the focus will be on the equation between violence and death in fashion.

This event is led by curator, editor and researcher Alessandro Bucci. His projects and studies deal with contemporary anthropology, visual and material culture, fashion theory, and body culture studies.
