Workshop/ Crowdfunding for Creative Projects

Crowdfunding is a great way to get your creative project off the ground. But it’s so much more than that – you can reach out to and grow an engaged audience or pre-sell your work. Find out how to engage your crowd for maximum results in this practical workshop led by crowdfunding specialist Anne Strachan from CrowdfundUK.

Who is this session for:

Anyone with a creative project in mid from film to crafts, from theatre to digital art. The session will be participatory with plenty of opportunities to ask questions about your project.

You will learn:

  • How crowdfunding works
  • What are the best platforms for creative projects
  • How it complements other funding opportunities
  • How to develop an exciting pitch
  • Reaching out to, and extending, your crowd
  • Tips and case studies

Anne Strachan is CrowdfundUK and has been supporting creatives, social entrepreneurs, startups and charities use crowdfunding since 2012. She runs her training across the country and offered in-depth strategic support in Manchester and for individual campaigns.

The session will include a case study from Darren Langlands whose most recent short film Last Man on Earth  was successfully crowdfunded on Indiegogo last year. Darren is an award winning writer, editor, producer and director who grew up by the seaside in sunny Sydney, Australia. After a career in journalism and marketing and years of extensive travel, he now calls the mostly dreary north of England home – don’t ask, people do silly things for love! Darren’s films have been shown at festivals and film events all over the world.
