Join It’s True, It’s True, It’s True director Billy Barrett for a workshop on devising theatre from historical sources. Working with the texts and images that inspired Breach Theatre’s award-winning courtroom drama, this two-hour session will explore how to find characters, narrative and scenes in archival material. Moving beyond conventional ideas of “truth” in staging real-life stories, it will consider the limits and possibilities of documentary and verbatim theatre through collaborative devising, improvisation and writing exercises.
Breach is a multimedia performance company founded by Dorothy Allen-Pickard, Billy Barrett and Ellice Stevens, and produced by Ellie Claughton. They collaborate with actors to create politically engaged, formally exploratory shows that blend drama and documentary.
