Tuesday Talk: Nikos Papastergiadis

Nikos Papastergiadis’ research and writing have focused on cultural theory and artistic practice in relation to place, migration and globalisation, and more recently the transformation of urban environments in post-industrial cities. He taught in the Sociology Department of the University of Manchester and is now acting Director of the Australian Centre at the University of Melbourne. His publications include Modernity in Exile (1992), Dialogues in the Diaspora (1998) and The Turbulence of Migration (2000).This ongoing series of talks by artists and other experts explores the driving forces within contemporary art and visual culture, by focusing on what has influenced and inspired each invited speaker. The series is a collaboration between Pavel Büchler, Manchester Metropolitan University and Cornerhouse. Tickets are £2.00 per talk, and are free to students with current MMU ID cards.
