Ian Davenport graduated from Goldsmiths in 1988 where, along with what came to be known as the YBA generation, he participated in Freeze. He has since received significant acclaim for his work in which he explores the physicality of the painting process. In 2002, he won the Pizza Express Prospects Drawing Prize and this year held a major retrospective at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham.
