‘True Stories’

The film ‘Testatika’, by Sarah Tripp, offers a starting point for this debate which will examine the nature and relevance of the documentary in terms of fine art practice, film-making and as a form of social research. Challenging these categories and the expectations we have of film, the debate will consider how film can be both fiction and social document. How does context, the gallery and cinema auditorium, affect how we read film? And how is the documentary relevant beyond these two fields?
