Rhetorical Devices will explore a number of themes in relation to the exhibition Carey Young: Memento Park. The basic task of communication is rather simple, yet as soon as we try to include meaning and understanding a series of pitfalls open up before us. Drawing on examples from a wide range of subjects, all the way from the A in Art to the Z in Zoo, the talk, lead by Dr Steven Gartside (MMU) will consider the connections and disconnections that occur as soon as one thing attempts to become another as well as question ideas on language, rhetoric and the image.
