Manchester Folk Festival Presents: Spoon Carving: SingleMaltteapot

Join Vic Phillips of SingleMaltTeapot and discover the creative wonders of hand carving a wooden utensil.

During the workshop you’ll discover:

  • How to work with a natural material
  • The cutting methods involved and how best to apply them
  • How to beautifully finish to your hand carved spoon

As you are guided through the process you’ll discover the meditative, enriching nature of working with something that has grown over time and will head home with the next part in that story, your very own, hand carved wooden spoon.

Vic is one half of SingleMaltTeapot, a combining of shared skills and experience with partner Samantha Wheeler, bringing together creative and professional endeavours with the ever growing story of their take on the good life.

As well as woodcraft SingleMaltTeapot provides solutions for makers, creatives and businesses including; photography, styling, web design, social media management, project management and development. It is also home to their blog; telling stories of their adventures and highlighting wondrous makers from around the UK.

Together they seek to join the dots between the traditional and the contemporary, whilst living and loving a handmade life.

This event is part of Manchester Folk Festival – a celebration of English folk in all its forms, from indie to traditional, familiar names alongside exciting new voices. From 19-22 October in and around HOME, the whole festival takes place in one area of Manchester over one weekend. The Festival presents an incredible music line-up, as well as craft workshops, film, a proper pub singaround, artists in conversation and a relaxed Festival Hub where you can watch the world go by. Friendly, inclusive and full of opportunities for discovery, it will have the spirit of a festival in a field, in the heart of the city.
