Spanish GCSE Study Morning: Gente de bien

Recommended for GCSE and equivalent level Spanish

This study morning will look at relevant themes including childhood, relationships with family and friends, social issues and equality.

Carmen Herrero will introduce the film in English, providing contextual information, key Spanish phrases and relevant vocabulary. The screening will include English subtitles and will be followed by a series of Spanish language exercises around expressing opinions, comparing different lifestyles and customs, giving full descriptions of characters, discussing issues related to the narrative of the film (family, urban life in Bogota, social contrasts) and film analysis.

Eric, 10, finds himself almost overnight living with Gabriel, his father, who he barely knows. The man has trouble keeping their heads above water and building a relationship with his son. Maria Isabel, the woman Gabriel works for as a carpenter, decides to take the child under her wing.
