To mark the opening of our exhibition Hiker Meat, Cinema 1 will turn Grindhouse, 1970s-style, for an all-night celebration of exploitation movies. Expect the good, the bad and the downright ugly films from a decade that produced some of cinema’s most outrageously sleazy moments.

Films include The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue, A Bay of Blood, Mandingo, Act of Vengeance, Jackson County Jail and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage. Click on the thumbnails below for more details.

After the Sleazeathon break your fast with cultural commentator CP Lee, who will discuss Manchester’s king of exploitation, the late great Cliff Twemlow, as you tuck into a well-earned breakfast.

The Sleazeathon is programmed by Andy Willis, Reader in Film Studies at the University of Salford. Have a listen to his preview…
