Short Sighted!

You’ve made a short film. Now what? Discuss the different ways to get your film seen in this all-day event on marketing and distributing your short, in association with BAFTA, British Council and Shooting People.

Short Sighted welcomes some of the major players in short film distribution, across several events, to discuss the different ways to getting your film seen. From international festival programmers, to some of the biggest online platforms for your short, the event will provide an in-depth look at the current landscape for short film as well as look ahead to the future of short film distribution; what new platforms, channels and players are emerging and is there revenue to be found?

Of course, Short Sighted would not be complete without the opportunity to relax, digest and discuss experiences with other filmmakers at the end of the day, with a glass (or two!) in hand. We will be wrapping up with a networking reception for all participants and attendees, as well as speakers throughout the day.

Speakers include Janet Pierson (Head of Film, SXSW), Claire Aguilar (Director of Programming and Industry Engagement, Doc/Fest) and Jordan McGarry (Lead Curator, Vimeo).

Sessions will include

Film Festival:  What do festival programmers look for in a short film and what’s involved in the programming process? We chat to an esteemed panel of UK and international short film festival directors and programmers to find out how filmmakers can best navigate the festival circuit.

Building an online profile:  The Internet has revolutionised exhibition for short films online, allowing filmmakers to reach a wider potential audience than ever before. But it’s also a busy place with an ever-growing supply of content. So when should you put your film online? Where? And what does the future hold?
