Our playreading sessions are a fun and informal way to study plays. Parts are shared around as the group read the play and then discuss it. New attendees are always welcome.
For this month’s Playreading session we will be reading Othello by William Shakespeare.
An admired soldier and a newly married man, Othello seems to be in an enviable position. And yet, when his supposed friend sows doubts in his mind about his wife’s fidelity, he is gradually consumed by suspicion. In one of Shakespeare’s greatest and most powerful tragedies, innocence is corrupted and trust eroded as every relationship is drawn into a twisted web of jealously.
