One Hour Intro: The Taiping Rebellion

To coincide with the screening of THE WARLORDS, Dr. Zheng Yangwen will discuss the Taiping Rebellion that ravaged southern China from 1850 to 1864. The Taiping Rebellion is a fascinating episode in late Imperial China. It heralded the end of the Manchu mandate that began in 1644 and ultimately led to the downfall of the Qing dynasty in 1911.

Led by Dr. Zheng Yangwen, Lecturer at the Centre for Chinese Studies & School of Arts, Histories and Cultures, University of Manchester.
