One Hour Intro: CinemaScope

Only fit for funerals and snakes was master director Fritz Lang’s verdict of the new ‘wide screen’ which promised to revloutionise cinema in the 1950s. But the master was wrong and directors such as Nicholas Ray found ways to use ‘Scope creatively, not least in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. This intro will explore both early and contemporary uses of the cinephile’s favourite format.Led by Roy Stafford, freelance film lecturer.
Tickets: £2.50 full / £2.00 concs (includes £1 off any film in the CinemaScope season)
