Over the last few years the term ‘Asia Extreme’ has become familiar to many fans of East Asian cinema. In conjunction with the current screening of LADY VENGEANCE and using extracts from other recent Korean films, this one hour introduction will attempt to define the term and ask if ‘Asia Extreme’ is anything more than a handy marketing label. Or, might it be more profitably considered as a new and emerging film genre? This session will be led by Andy Willis who teaches film and media at the University of Salford.
