NO DRAMA- a beginner’s guide to making art out of your life

Calling creatives in all fields who want to use aspects of their own life as a subject but are not sure where to start. Join Lowri Evans for a 2 hour creative workshop that explores autobiographical the stories we tell, how we tell them and invites you to tell yours. Expect to write, draw, make, perform as well as gain an insight into Lowri’s art practice.

Along the way we’ll think about

  • How do specific stories reveal universal truths?
  • How do you care for yourself and your audience?
  • How does autobiography help us understand wider culture, politics and society?

Lowri Evans is an artist based in Manchester and São Paulo, Brazil. She has extensive experience of making artwork based on her life and experience, often making intimate art projects in unusual places with complete strangers. Art is her way of saying ‘sometimes I feel like this, do you?’ This year, Lowri is turning her sketchbooks into an online art soap opera called Telenovela. It will be released nightly during September and shown at HOME and Islington Mill.

Telenovela is commissioned by HOME and Islington Mill and public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
