Music Fanzines

A survey and discussion on the history of music fanzines, from early soul fanzines, the legendary Sniffin Glue and Manchester’s City Fun, uncovering roots in the underground press of the 1960s, and tracing influences in present day fanzines. This illustrated talk will also look at the way fanzines have reflected the music of their time and performed a critical and influential role in shaping mainstream writing and graphic design. With Dave Haslam, DJ, author and ex-fanzine editor, and Bob Dickinson, broadcaster and author of Imprinting the Sticks; the Alternative Press beyond London. Tickets: £2.50, available from Box Office
