Mothers Who Make

"Mothers Who Make has given me vital access to peer support and advice when navigating the balance of being a mum and making work in a tough industry. I genuinely don’t know how I would have survived the first year of my child’s life without this wonderful, supportive group".

Mothers Who Make (MWM) is a peer support group and creative exchange session for mothers who are artists – professional and/or passionate – writers, painters, actors, dancers, filmmakers, photographers…every kind of maker welcome, and every kind of mother.

The sessions, which have gathered momentum over the past few years, aim to give creative mothers the chance to explore their practice in a room with their child. Professional connections have been formed and led to the beginning of joint projects between participants – so it’s a great way to meet and collaborate with other mothers from different creative backgrounds.

In the past the group ran a series sessions with guest speakers sharing their journey of being an artist and a mother. They have also created a mini festival sharing their work and the different ways they make, from leading workshops to sharing poetry, sculpture, music and theatre. MWM are open to making things happen guided by the interests and resources within the group.

You are invited to join this inspiring and growing initiative. Please feel free to bring along your children, of any age, whether they are inside you, beside you or running around the room!

During and post Covid 19 the hub has, and will, be needed more than ever as we navigate our roles in this evolving world of change and uncertainty, but also possibility.

2024 Dates (all at 10:30 – 12:30):

Please do check with box office the location of the session on the day when you arrive in the building.
