This November, HOME is part of BFI’s UK-wide celebration of the career of multi-award winning writer-director Mike Leigh, one of Britain’s most internationally recognised and critically acclaimed filmmakers working today.
To coincide with the release of the restoration of Mike Leigh’s Naked, we’re offering the opportunity to catch up with some of the director’s earlier works.
Renowned for his working methods that allow characters to emerge from research and development with actors, Leigh has become one of British cinema’s most distinctive voices. This selection reveals the breadth of his achievements from the early social realism of Bleak Moments to the comedy of his Play for Today classic Nuts in May to his mature explorations of Britain in the 1980s with Meantime and High Hopes.
