Our annual celebration of Irish language film returns with a special screening of Song of Granite, a critically-acclaimed biopic charting the rise of traditional Irish folk singer Joe Heaney, and how the songs of his west of Ireland childhood helped shape his complex character. The screening will be followed by a discussion in both Irish and English and this event is open to all, whether or not you are an Irish speaker.
Before the event join us in the ground floor bar from 10:15 for music performed by young musicians from Comhaltas (Ceoltóirí Éireann) Tara O’Caralon Branch.
Part of this year’s Irish Language Arts Festival supported by the Government of Ireland. Programmed in partnership with Manchester’s Irish language group.
