Manchester Folk Festival 2021/ The English Fiddle Ensemble plus support Flo Perlin

Unfortunately, Flo Perlin’s performance is cancelled due to illness. The English Fiddle Ensemble will now perform at 9:30pm.

Four of England’s finest traditional fiddle players, Bryony Griffith, Jim Boyle, Ross Grant and Rosie Butler-Hall, have joined forces to create The English Fiddle Ensemble with the aim of allowing their audience to feel the bite and lift of four fiddles resonating to create joyous harmonies and striking rhythms. Each with a passion for traditional English dance and its music, their combined repertoire is vast and includes rarely played and unusual regional versions of traditional English tunes alongside more familiar session favourites.

Flo Perlin

Flo Perlin is a contemporary folk singer-songwriter from London, UK, with Iraqi and Belarusian heritage. She grew up surrounded by a diverse range of music, learning to play cello at the age of five. The guitar put a spell on her when her teacher from Columbia introduced her to the world of Bossa Nova, which influenced her own unique finger picking style. Flo taught herself piano and started singing as a way to begin writing songs from the age of ten.

Flo’s music presents how contemporary folk and story-telling continues to evolve. She has incorporated her diverse love of music into her new album ‘Characters’ due for release in late 2021.

This event is part of Manchester Folk Festival – an urban folk festival. It takes place from 21-23 October 2021, in and around HOME and the city centre. Over the autumn weekend, they present an exhilarating range of events, with the spotlight on contemporary and traditional English folk music.
