Teesside folk harmony legends The Wilson Family are joined by Dan Walsh Trio at HOME as part of Manchester Folk Festival 2018.

The glorious, powerful, vocal harmony of The Wilson Family of Billingham, Teesside has rung out in folk clubs and festivals continuously for the last 40+ years. The Brothers sing Traditional and traditionally-orientated songs, with deep understanding, Joy and good humour. Their admirers are many, both in the UK and overseas, as they continue to impress with their dynamic Live Performances and their versatility is dramatically evident by their collaboration with The Northern Sinfonia Orchestra, The Kathryn Tickell Band and The BBC Singers, during their performance at The Royal Albert Hall, in August 2011, which received universal plaudits from arts critics in the national press.

Support from: Dan Walsh

BBC Folk Awards nominee Dan Walsh combines ‘virtuoso playing and winning songwriting’ (Morning Star). Describing what Dan does is no easy task but at the heart of it is British, Irish and American folk music delivered with a healthy dose of funky grooves – all performed with his unique and dazzling take on clawhammer style banjo helping to challenge all preconceptions about the instrument. Add to all that poignant songs, astonishing musical departures and lively humour and the result is a truly memorable live show which has wowed audiences across the world from intimate seated rooms to huge dancing crowds in festival fields.

This event is part of Manchester Folk Festival – an urban folk festival. It takes place over 18-21 October 2018, in an around HOME and the city centre. Over the autumn weekend, they present an exhilarating range of events, with the spotlight on English folk.
